How Your Donations Help the Omega School

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in political science, Victor Arellano went on to become a partner and shareholder in Arellano & Phebus, S.C., working as a trial lawyer. Aside from his work as an attorney, Victor Arellano and his business help provide financial support for the Omega School of Madison, WI, which is dedicated to helping people get their GED or HSED.

When it comes to charities transparency breeds trust, and the Omega School builds this trust by spelling out exactly what given amounts of donation money can provide for their students.

According to the school’s website, a donation of $50 is enough to give two hours of tutoring to Spanish speaking students. The school offers their programs in both English and Spanish.

Many of the Omega School’s students are adults who have children, which often means they have less time for school, but a $100 donation provides eight children with day care, affording their parents the time to learn.

GED tests also cost money, as do the practice tests leading up to the all-important graded tests. A $150 donation provides a student with these tests.

Another big obstacle many people seeking education face is transportation. A $250 donation to the Omega School will provide a week’s worth of bus passes for 30 students.

A lot of the work done at the Omega School relies on volunteers, and a $500 donation provides a month’s worth of monetary support the school’s tutor volunteers need to help teach.
